So you want to learn how to play

This kit will go with any electric guitar and give you everything you need to start learning and practicing. Obviously a guitar a lead and an amp are essential items - without them you can't make any sound.

This kit goes one step further though and gives you not just the essentials - but a few bits and pieces that make life a lot easier. First is a digital tuner. Without a tuner such as this you have to tune up your instrument using your ear - which although very good ear training - can be a bit tricky especially if you have never done it before. If you can't get your instrument in tune you will never be able to play it properly. With a tuner though - you plug your lead into the guitar and the tuner and play your strings one at a time and it tells you how far out of tune you are or tells you if you are in tune. This will save loads of time and let you get on with playing instead of playing with your guitar.

If you ever want to play stood up - and that is what most people do - you are going to need a strap that you can put over your shoulders.

If you want to play without blistering your fingers then you are going to need plectrums (the little triangular plastic things) to pick the strings with.

If you are going to put your guitar down you can either lay it flat on the floor (very bad idea - one accidental step on the neck and that's it.. broken). You could lay it against a chair or other item of furniture (then it slips - lands on its side and breaks...not good either). Or you can use a stand - custom designed to hold your instrument securely in place - a good idea if you value your instrument!!
